As a response to a previous post:
Despite the above statements I would highly recommend more people to visit this ecovillage because I believe my reactions were rare.
So they have a whole entire page titled 'Diversity @ Dancing Rabbit' which is full of a bunch of paragraph basically dancing around the fact that there isn't any, and basically someone who is of a minority background they would have to think really lonnnnng and hard about accepting. Just go ahead and say 'coloreds need not apply' already.
Bring and wear sunscreen and non-deet bug spray.
Bring and use snacks and recycle the wrappings.
Still want to and an to visit
Have fun and ask questions if you are curious.
"I felt like a sack of s*** even though I was surrounded by beautiful medium sized trees, birds chirping, and an interesting communal lifestyle system."
Socially: There are minor squabbles in the community which is to be expected. The social workings of the community are significantly varied because of how people work to make a living is significantly varied.
Bring and use biodegradable shampoo.
Went there September 2015 and had a blast. I made done friends and learned a lot about community. Will visit again
My review:
There are older people living at this eco village successfully.
Many ways to increase their health are present including conflict resolution team to minimize stress, healthy food options availability to increase their body’s immune system, and an environment that allows people to enjoy the local nature if they are not allergic to the local plants.
Recommendations to future visitors:
As far as health people decide their insurance and plans as they see fit similar to any small town system.
I went here for pizza, and it was some of the best pizza I’ve had!
Shortened Sustainability triple bottom line:
Economically: While there are a few people who use investments to live at the ecovillage there are significantly more people who work multiple jobs in a mixed multidisciplinary fashion. This is seen as impractical by some locals.
I was allergic to a local plant on the first day I arrived and was physically and mentally hampered from this. My head throbbed some days, my breath was labored consistently, and my reactions and thinking were significantly slowed. I still have no clue what that plant was.
Ecology: There was a noticeable presence of multiple local bird types, while their soil in some areas was previously degraded by the previous land owners there has been a recovery of the land’s productivity and greenery thanks to minimize human interference in local pockets throughout the landscape without the use of petrochemicals or other unnatural inputs.
